Thom Browne to Show in Paris/WWD

BONJOUR, PARIS: Thom Browne has spoken for years about wanting to show in Paris instead of New York, and this June he’s finally getting his wish. He will show his namesake collection on the last day of the Paris men’s shows, the same day Lanvin and Paul Smith typically show. Browne has already held a presentation at Pitti Uomo in Florence, and Moncler shows his Gamme Bleu collection in Milan. But the Paris runway will be a European first for his signature collection. Browne hopes to reach a more international audience that could be more receptive to his avant-garde designs than in the commercially focused Big Apple.



トムブラウンがとうとうNYコレクションからパリコレクションに進出するようです。WWDいわく、トムブラウンはいままでフィレンツェで毎年行われるファッション見本市、ピッティウォモのコレクションに参加し、彼がデザインを担当しているモンクレールガムブルーもミラノコレクションの常連となっています。
しかしながら、まだファッションショーの頂点ともいえるパリコレクションには参加を果たしていなかった。それどころか、ご存知の通り、トムブラウンは破綻寸前でした。それに、クロスカンパニーの傘下に入ることによって復活。、今年６月に、パリコレクションのランウェイショーに登場し、９月に東京に旗艦店をつくるという、いままでの状況では考えられない所まで再浮上しました。トムブラウンとしては、マーケティング、広告活動としてパリコレクションに進出し、ヨーロッパの関係者達の主要関心事にしたいということよりも、彼のアバンギャルドなファッションスタイルを歓迎してもらうことがねらいのようです。
